The Nothing-to-share Rainy Garden Post

Feeling as though someone has siphoned all adjectives from my brain and dumped them
in a tank to be used at a later date. hhhmmm what do I have to say? The last week has not been filled with adventures and folly, but rather laden with heaviness.... thus, no posting of late. Not much to share.

Found my way to the garden, with camera in hand and took a few deep breaths. Stood, staring at the motion of the walnut tree as the wind took down barrels of yellowed leaves.  I'm enjoying these recent days of grey ~ liking the cozy-home feeling ~ but along with writing, exercise has also lost some luster. Butterball turkeys and I have alot in common!

In need of a walk... so through the garden we go....

Many days of rain forecasted. Barren walnut trees sure to follow. Ten extra pounds likely!  :-)

So True

Remember a post or two ago? The one where I had such a quiet, exquisite day? I just found this quote on a blog called Urban Farmgirl and it's exactly what I was feeling ~

www.urbanfarmgirl.blogspot.com

If the rest of the day follows this morning, it is sure to be a restful and event-less one. Of this I am thankful! Grey skies have blanketed my surroundings and the rain patters on making me feel the need to stay-in and sip tea. A simple pleasure, as the chalkboard above reads. Bodies need these respites.

All that I may accomplish today may be ~

browsing the net to find a specific, hard to find plant for my garden.... sweet Ligularia where are you?

found via nursery

I may boost myself with pillows and make the couch a writing studio.

I will send a note to a friend attached with photos ^. Forget Me Nots that were planted after a Mother's funeral. They now bloom in profusion and remind me each time of that woman.

A note of thankfulness to friends for their years of friendship

And ~

An envelope filled with quiet "I am here" show of support while some are in the throes of sadness

Fill your home with love and gather your loved ones to you...

I may entertain myself with the stack of magazines staring at me from the table side

The recently mailed film from Netflix sounds appealing

A pot of chicken noodle soup needs to be started

As lovely as all of this day sounds, I will be missing the work that I love - gardening - as each day now I have a partner working side-by-side with me. Her name is Clarabelle. She is a gardener's delight. She is that chicken-neighbor-from-next-door that I've talked about. Somehow, she & I have become a pair. As I dig, and pull, and rake and plant - she keeps right at my side. I get the fact that she's not just seeking my companionship, she's letting me do all of her dirty work.... then she searches the newly tilled dirt for a snack! I am loving every minute! Chickens are good for a chuckle!

A lovely rainy day, indeed !

Rainy Days & Thursdays...

La, la la la . Da, da da da da da ... Always get me down...
I know the words are really rainy days and MONDAYS always get me down.... here's a glimpse of that ~

But, I'm sorta blue today - on a Thursday! Just a slight bit tired of our inclement weather. I'll get over it though... just a minor blip! Some worries that the very few starter annuals I've put in the ground may very well drown! Their tiny roots are probably clogged with our clay dirt and the puddles all around them.

With vintage umbrella and galoshes I went to survey some of the scene ~

Lady Banks roses just starting to bloom

Purposely left a corner of the umbrella in each of those shots...still playing around with my new toy!

I'm anxiously awaiting a true blue-skyed, sun filled, yet cool day to get going on my raised beds of vegetables. What shall I plant this year? I might give pumpkins a go. If I only had more sunny spots! Gourds and squash of all kinds would be a great item to decorate my booth at Goat Hill.

Speaking of Goat Hill - I've had some fun treasure hunting!  I'm going to post a story about some of my adventures through the years on  my decor and vintage blog: http://www.abundantfinds.blogspot.com/. See ya over there!
