Love Notes and Hearts

During the "winter of cleaning" that has been going on in the cottage 'oer here, I've come across some fun mementos. They've got lots to do with love and heartfelt feelings and the showing of emotions.

Valentine's Day. Hearts and notes of love suit this day well....

Stuck back in a closet and refound - this vintage silk covered heart pin cushion.  The kind of odd object that I adore finding at an estate sale...  ->

This pink vintage candy box ^ was filled with cards, good wishes and notes of love. My family - Hubby, parents, brothers and sisters stuffed this box with goodness of the non-chocolate type for my 50th Birthday. The sweetness inside oozed with emotion.... 100 times more potent than a confection indulgence.

special notes from Hubby & my brother

Two vintage hearts -

A thoughtful note from my niece sent to me upon the eve of her college graduation. So happy that I printed it and stashed it away. Only to be found, and now coveted... never to be misplaced again.

On another night I will sit and share the delight I feel for some recent love notes....
They are ridiculously silly, quirky and one-of-a-kind!! All from my Valentine.

Paul's Truth and Following B-52's

WHHHHHAT's that, you say???...  Paul who? and what airplane?...
I'm waxing so VERY NOT poetic, for this Valentine's Day!

It may not be poetic or very original either - but, my Valentine (Hubby) and I are extending the love day to this weekend and we may, or may not, blast this song from the B-52's as we head down the highway ~

If you see a faded sign by the side of the road that says
15 miles to the, Love Shack! Love Shack yeah
I'm headin' down the Atlanta  California highway, lookin' for the love getaway
Heading for the love getaway, love getaway,
I got me a car, it's as big as a whale and we're headin' on down
To the Love Shack

I've found a true beach shack that we're renting for a few days. It may, or may not, look like this ~

I'm secretly hoping it is exactly this way! Because then it'll be just like the line I love most from Love Shack :

Tin roof!  RUSTED!!!

All kidding aside... it has been a love-ly love-day. Our extended weekend will surely delight our hearts also.
Oh yes, about that Paul mention in the title - it's a reference to Sir McCartney and the lyrics to a Beatles tune. I was reminded of this during the Grammy Awards ~

In the end...
The love you take is equal to the love you make

A Storms a Brewin'....

Downspouts are draining and the brick walk is a glistening, deep red stone. It's been raining and is supposed to continue that way for many days. The Spring Queen hurried away from the Ball with her crinolines all in an uproar. Winter came back to claim  a spot on her dance card!! Just watch though - she'll have none of that! Spring will two-step her way right back to the floor very soon!

And I shall not have anyone rain on my parade either! May have to wear slickers and boots, caps and scarves but I will still be walking the strand at Stinson Beach. Split wood is stacked ceiling high in the SUV.
We'll be plenty warm in our special rustic hideaway! Where we could possibly be blown-away!

Valentine window at our beach cabin 2010

Can you see that metal stovepipe and shaky wooden roof?? When the wind gets roarin' these instruments get rockin'!! Mix that sound with the ocean and it's quite a cacophony. So much so that it can be hard to sleep through! All just part of the experience! More to love about my favorite place!

I'll be talking to ya from there this week.....

Happy Valentine's Day !!

Valentine Thoughts

As I swept, redecorated, wrapped and mingled with customers the thought of Valentine's Day was ever present. I am working retail in a lovely den of femininity and nothing seems more sweet and girlish to me than Valentine's Day.  We had a project going on in the shop that required me to browse magazines and tear pages of beautiful scenes. Such a horrible job...  NOT!! In many of these now defunct prizes-in-print I found items that captured the spirit of the Day of Love. I sprinkled these beauties all about the store.

Life Love is like a box of chocolates! So I brought a box of cherry liqueur bon-bons for the counter. More enticement for our shoppers.
Aren't they so special... all wrapped in pretty golden foil?

Trying to dream up more Valentine goodness for tomorrow. I made a postcard with some of the pictures I took while pacing about and dusting up.

Enjoying this new chapter in my life. Hoping that the opportunities here grow & grow.
