So True

Remember a post or two ago? The one where I had such a quiet, exquisite day? I just found this quote on a blog called Urban Farmgirl and it's exactly what I was feeling ~

www.urbanfarmgirl.blogspot.com

If the rest of the day follows this morning, it is sure to be a restful and event-less one. Of this I am thankful! Grey skies have blanketed my surroundings and the rain patters on making me feel the need to stay-in and sip tea. A simple pleasure, as the chalkboard above reads. Bodies need these respites.

All that I may accomplish today may be ~

browsing the net to find a specific, hard to find plant for my garden.... sweet Ligularia where are you?

found via nursery

I may boost myself with pillows and make the couch a writing studio.

I will send a note to a friend attached with photos ^. Forget Me Nots that were planted after a Mother's funeral. They now bloom in profusion and remind me each time of that woman.

A note of thankfulness to friends for their years of friendship

And ~

An envelope filled with quiet "I am here" show of support while some are in the throes of sadness

Fill your home with love and gather your loved ones to you...

I may entertain myself with the stack of magazines staring at me from the table side

The recently mailed film from Netflix sounds appealing

A pot of chicken noodle soup needs to be started

As lovely as all of this day sounds, I will be missing the work that I love - gardening - as each day now I have a partner working side-by-side with me. Her name is Clarabelle. She is a gardener's delight. She is that chicken-neighbor-from-next-door that I've talked about. Somehow, she & I have become a pair. As I dig, and pull, and rake and plant - she keeps right at my side. I get the fact that she's not just seeking my companionship, she's letting me do all of her dirty work.... then she searches the newly tilled dirt for a snack! I am loving every minute! Chickens are good for a chuckle!

A lovely rainy day, indeed !

Ocean Water And Desert Sands

On March 6th I promised to show the last day of our get-away at the beach shack on this next post. So here you have it. Let me think... huummm, what did we do the last few hours there?

Ah, yes it was a pretty sunny weekend. The sun rose over Mt. Tamalpais in one of the windows ~

Hubby was down at the waves, and I grabbed a cup of coffee and walked the neighborhood streets on the hill.

The neighborhood seemed rather small... we were in need of a road trip!

We could've gone the usual route.  Instead we turned down the road less traveled...

The less traveled road led to a trail we'd never walked ~

Did we happen upon a dry Sahara Desert-like scene ?

or a riparian-ish, lush destination ?

Guess that it was mostly like the desert....
At least that's what Hubby says. He sure had worked up a powerful thirst. He needed something to drink, badly! He climbed the highest dune. Visions {mirage} of water ahead?

Hubby is fond of this kind of photo storytelling^ ... silly, silly man!

In the end we did  get ourselves to a tap of thirst quenching fluid ~

And we partook in a Czech-style lunch. The weekend ended as it always seems to - with good memories, full bellies, gratitude and want for the next one...

Because, yes, we have a good life. A full and charmed .....

Abundant Picnic of a life...

Beach Shack & Various Other Lovely Things

Upon the hill, up behind the general store and a right from the only stop sign in town. This is where you'll find that tiny two piece cabin where we ensconced ourselves for some rest. The only time we took leave from our high perch bed were for food and exercise.

If you'd like to finish this journey ... I'll be heading out ->

on the next post....

A Couple Weeks Back...

One way to deal with life and it's not-always-kind turns is to look that rude awakening straight in the eye and yell  BOOOYAH! Not that our house is full of sorrow or anything horrific, yet we are still dealing with repercussions from Hubby's health issue from this past Fall.  Most of the dealing is his to cope. There are pieces that are mine also. Ya know what? We mostly smile and frequently get-away! Now, that's a way to cope!!

Hubby's work week needs to be shortened. He tires a tiny bit easily. So, we took advantage of a four-day-long-weekend  Perfectly FUN and perfect for re-energizing. It looked like this ~

Cheese tasting at one of our faves - Cowgirl Creamery ~

Puddle jumping through the sand ~

A quirky yet strangely adorable beach shack to stay in ~

Each evening we read outside on the patio waiting for the sun to set. Luckily we had that space as the bedroom {2 photos above} was an extremely high bed on a platform, and not much else. The kitchen and bath {above} ^ were in a tiny separate cabin a few steps away. Funky, huh?

This escape was a bless id four day stay, so I'll take a few days to show you the rest of our rest!

Day In The Life Of Me

A plain old day, regular, quiet - in fact rather dull. Not my usual running around with outings. It was grey, and it rained {finally}, so I decided to stay in and ->

Spent a strangely inordinate amount of time in my bathroom ~

salle de bain = salon of the bath {French}... fyi

Applied a face masque and then had the gall to photograph myself.... oh geeeesh! ~

pay no attention to the lip lines and creases.... the mask only serves to accentuate them! hhaaa

Added some of my Spring Chicken Serum after the mask was rinsed~

You heard right. That little bottle on the left is filled with a potion made by another blogger named Jayme. She is the Tales From The Coop Keeper tender. Don't know if her secret recipe has real live chicken-any-part in it, but 'tis very emollient!

I drank some tea and had me an egg from the next-door-chickens, that are now known as the party-in-my-yard-chickens. Aka - Clarabelle and Biloxi Brown. {Story on them soon}

Fussed about some more in the Salle de Bain ~

Love that new gadget hanging from the towel bar. I had a plant in it. Think it will instead have an extra roll of TP. The pot and hooks were found at IKEA, and were shown in the kitchen area for utensils - but rather like my version!

Foofed the towels and took a steamy, long shower. You'd think a bath, the way this post is going - wouldn't ya? Nope, I'm not a bath kinda girl.

A great big French bar ^ a la the Hubby!

Had a view of the rainy day out my window, beyond the orchid ~

Took in one of the few Academy Award films that I missed.  A Better Life  - the story of a Mexican immigrant {illegal} and the better life he hoped to give his only child and himself here in California.
Dimian Bishir was nominated for Best Actor and was deserving of the nod.

Gathered a grocery list and finally left the abode... looking very coiffed, and spit-shined {if I do say so myself} after the day of Le Salle de Bain! haaa

I capped the day off with a lovely evening... time spent with some pals!

And a divine meal ~

Now, didn't that quiet and grey day turn into something scrumptious?  And, I don't just mean the food.
